Short answer
How do you find out when a customer or prospect changes jobs on LinkedIn?
For free, connect with them and watch LinkedIn's notifications and Catch Up tab, but you only hear about people who leave their profile-update sharing switched on. Sales Navigator Core (A$154.99 a month in Australia, US$119.99 in the US) alerts you when any lead you have saved moves company, and Bingle (from US$49 a month) brings people who replied, engaged or sat in a sequence back as leads when they move. To watch a whole CRM, UserGems starts at $40,000 a year, Champify at $500 a month for Salesforce users and Common Room at $2,500 a month.
What LinkedIn tells you for free
When someone updates their job on LinkedIn, LinkedIn can tell their network. Its help page on sharing profile updates says this "may generate a post in your network's feed, an in-app notification, or an email notification", that job updates can take up to two hours to go out, and that the automated post stays up for up to 90 days. So if your customer contacts are connections, a move will often show up in your notifications or feed without you doing anything.
The catch is that the person controls it. The same page shows the Share profile updates toggle under Settings & Privacy, then Visibility, and anyone can switch it off before they update their profile. LinkedIn also says that "some types of profile edits won't generate notifications" even with sharing on. A customer who switches sharing off before updating their job tells nobody.
Two places to look. The Notifications tab, where LinkedIn's help says you manage notifications "about yourself, your activity, and your connections": if you ever turned job updates off, Manage notifications is where LinkedIn says you switch a notification type back on. And the Catch Up tab in My Network, which TechCrunch reported in February 2024 highlights "a new job, work anniversary or if they are hiring" among your connections, with a button to message them.
- No list of everyone who moved, and nothing to export.
- Only your connections, and only the ones who share profile updates.
- Easy to miss among likes and birthdays if you check once a week.
Sales Navigator lead alerts, and what they cost in Australia
Sales Navigator's alerts follow the leads you save. LinkedIn's help page is blunt: "To receive alerts, you must save your leads and accounts." Two alert types matter here: "Lead changed jobs", when a saved lead moves to a new company, and "Lead changed roles", when they change roles inside the same one. Alerts appear on the Sales Navigator homepage and in your LinkedIn notifications, which LinkedIn says include "a saved lead being promoted or moving companies".
They are not all on by default. Per the same help page, in Sales Navigator Settings you turn on Top Weekly Notifications under Email notifications, then, under In-product notifications, Activity about saved leads, switch on both "A lead started a position at a new company" and "A lead started a position at the same company". Do this on day one, or the first move you hear about will be from someone else.
For prospects you don't know yet, the search side helps. LinkedIn launched a Job Changes spotlight in 2016 that "identifies prospects who have changed jobs within the last 3 months", which lets you run a saved search of your ideal customer and see who is new in the seat. What to say to them is a separate question, covered in our guide to outreach after a job change.
Price: LinkedIn lists Sales Navigator Core in Australia at A$154.99 a month or A$1,499.88 a year per licence, and Advanced at A$189.99 or A$2,159.88. Its compare page ticks Alerts on all three plans, so Core is enough for job-change alerts. LinkedIn says those prices are estimates that may exclude GST. Showing alerts inside Salesforce, HubSpot or Dynamics needs the Advanced Plus plan, which is priced by quote. Dedicated job-change tools and their prices
These tools start from your CRM rather than from LinkedIn. They take your customer and opportunity contacts, check where each person works now and flag the ones who moved. Prices below are from each vendor's own pricing page on 24 October 2026. UserGems, Champify, Common Room and Clay show a plain $ sign without naming the currency; all are US companies, so read them as US dollars.
| Tool | Entry price on its site | What it watches | Good to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| UserGems | Core $40,000 a year, plus a $3,000 implementation fee | 30+ signals including job changes, across your CRM | Optional $3,000 one-off for retroactive job-change leads; Salesforce and HubSpot |
| Champify | Lite from $500 a month | 5,000+ CRM contacts on Lite for company changes | Installs as a Salesforce package; no native HubSpot integration, per its FAQ |
| Common Room | Essential $2,500 a month, billed annually | Up to 100,000 contacts, with job-change tracking | 5 seats included; demo only, no trial mentioned |
| Clay | Free plan has no job-change signals; Launch shown at $167 a month (its FAQ says from $185) | Job changes, promotions and new hires for contacts you load | You build the table and workflow yourself; 14-day trial on Launch |
| Firmable | AU$80 a user a month billed annually (AU$165 monthly), plus GST | Signals on accounts you pick, including role and leadership changes | Australian; account-level signals plus contact data |
For an Australian team the gap is stark. UserGems' first year at Core costs $43,000 with implementation, about A$61,400 at the Reserve Bank's rate for 23 October 2026 (US$0.7006 to the dollar). Champify's entry plan is about A$714 a month and Common Room's about A$3,570. Between free notifications and those, the options are Sales Navigator at A$155, Firmable from A$80 a user and Bingle at about A$70.
How Bingle tracks job changes
Bingle watches for moves in two ways. First, anyone who replied to you, engaged with you or went into one of your sequences is watched for a job change, and when one moves they come back as a new lead at the new company. Second, starting a new role is one of the buying signals its sources look for among people who fit your ideal customer, alongside a separate signal for a new director, VP or C-level leader in the function you sell to.
You can also give Bingle a list of past champions in its Brain: people who bought, used or evaluated what you sell. A past champion starting at a new company is weighted as heavily as any signal Bingle scores. To bring in customers who aren't leads yet, paste their LinkedIn profile links, one or hundreds at a time; pasted people skip the fit check.
Moves fade. On Bingle's buying signals page, a new role counts half as much after about three months, and a past champion's move fades faster, to half after about two. Each lead shows the dated reason, and Bingle writes the first message for your OK before anything is sent from your own LinkedIn. Plans start at US$49 a month after 7 free days with no card; see pricing.
Where it falls short: Bingle is LinkedIn only. It doesn't sync with Salesforce or HubSpot, doesn't scan your CRM on its own and doesn't find email addresses or phone numbers. If your customer list lives in Salesforce and you want every move written back there, Champify or UserGems does that job and Bingle doesn't.
Every method by cost and effort
| Method | Cost | Who it covers | Setup | Weekly effort | What it misses |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| LinkedIn notifications and Catch Up | Free | Your connections | Connect with every customer contact | Scan notifications most days | Anyone with sharing off; no list or export |
| Sales Navigator Core alerts | A$154.99/mo or A$1,499.88/yr per licence (US$119.99/mo) | Leads you save | Save each contact, switch on three settings | Read alerts on the homepage | Anyone you didn't save; CRM view needs Advanced Plus |
| Bingle | From US$49/mo, about A$70 | People who replied, engaged or were in a sequence, your champion list, and new-role signals among ideal-customer fits | Paste profile links or add champions | Review new leads and approve drafts | LinkedIn only; no self-serve CRM integration or emails |
| Firmable | From AU$80/user/mo billed annually, plus GST | Accounts you choose | Pick target accounts | Act on signals | Account-level; it doesn't send messages |
| Clay | Launch from $167 to $185/mo | Contacts you load into a table | Build the workflow | Keep tables and credits topped up | Not on the free plan; takes time to set up |
| Champify | From $500/mo | 5,000+ CRM contacts | Install the Salesforce package | Low | No native HubSpot |
| Common Room | From $2,500/mo, billed annually | Up to 100,000 contacts | Demo and onboarding | Low | Price for a small team |
| UserGems | From $40,000/yr plus $3,000 setup | Your CRM | Implementation project | Low | Price for a small team |
For a team with a few hundred customer contacts, the free route plus Sales Navigator Core covers most moves for A$155 a month, at the cost of saving every contact and checking alerts. The CRM-wide tools make sense once your customer list runs into the thousands and someone owns Salesforce.
A 20-minute weekly routine for a small team
- Export everyone on a closed-won deal, every active user you can name and the main contact on each lost deal from your CRM, with their LinkedIn profile links.
- Load that list wherever you will watch it: a Sales Navigator lead list called Customers, or Bingle's champion list, or both.
- Switch on the two saved-lead job-change toggles and Top Weekly Notifications in Sales Navigator.
- Every Monday, read the week's Lead changed jobs alerts and your LinkedIn notifications, and note each mover's new company and start date in the CRM.
- For each customer who left, add their replacement at the old account to your list the same week, so a renewal doesn't land on a stranger.
- Hold the first message to the mover until they have had a few weeks in the seat, and write it about their problem, not their promotion.

Questions
Does LinkedIn notify you when a connection changes jobs?
Often, but not always. LinkedIn sends a feed post, in-app notification or email only if the person has Share profile updates switched on, and some profile edits don't trigger one even then.
Can you get job change alerts without Sales Navigator?
Yes. Free LinkedIn notifications cover connections who share updates, and tools such as Bingle, Clay, Champify, Common Room and UserGems watch lists you give them. Each covers a different group of people at a very different price.
Do Sales Navigator job change alerts work for leads you haven't saved?
No. LinkedIn's help page says you must save your leads and accounts to receive alerts, and the job-change alerts also need two settings switched on under Activity about saved leads.
How much does UserGems cost?
Its pricing page lists Core at $40,000 a year, Advanced at $75,000 and Elite at $150,000, with one-off implementation fees from $3,000 and an optional $3,000 for retroactive job-change leads.
How long is a job change worth acting on?
Months, not days. Bingle counts a new role half as much after about three months, and LinkedIn's Job Changes spotlight looks back three months. For timing and wording, see our guide to [outreach after a job change](/linkedin-outreach-after-a-job-change).
